On November 4, 1994 I was called at 0345 to take train G80 from Interbay yard in Seattle to Wenatchee. My power was BN 7048, UP 3958 and BN 4102. I had 104 empty C6 grain cars. I don’t remember too much about the start of the trip except that it was raining when we left Seattle. By the time we got to Goldbar, the rain had turned to snow.

My conference in La Jolla wrapped by at noon on Friday leaving me the afternoon to explore the area before I departed for Cajon Pass that evening. Thanks to Eric Roe, Google maps, and the Coaster and Surfliner timetables, I was able to bash together a fun afternoon of railfanning.

Been awhile since I have posted any photos; I have been very busy in college, but only about 3 more weeks until graduation. Here are some rare catches around Lynchburg, VA.

I caught the Alco Switcher that is rarely out at the Nidera Grain Elevator on Jones Island in Milwaukee, WI. This bright yellow Alco doesn’t see daylight very often, but I saw the tell tale “smoke trail” and followed it to paydirt. (more)
