OK, I guess I can post the information from the Chief Dispatcher. On Tuesday May 27th MOW will be taking both Main 1 and Main 2 (between Interstate and Coon Creek) will be out of service starting at 0400 to insert a walkway under both mains for the North Star project to access the Fridley passenger station. Main 1 will be out of service for 30 hours and Main 2 will be out of service for 20 hours. This will cut off the access for trains moving between Chicago and Seattle and between Northtown and Superior. There will be a select number of trains that will reroute via Northtown to Willmar to Dilworth but crews and line capacity will dictate how many trains will operate over this line. The first plan will be sent out as to which trains we can handle off the Chicago Division and which trains which we will need to park until after the window opens up. Northtown will still be able to handle terminating trains from the Chicago Division. |

Thanks for posting that info. So realistically speaking, the system will probably start to regain speed at midnight wednesday with main 2 reopening. "Inserting a tunnel" sounds like major work! Are they cutting in the 2nd main between 35th-Interstate as well during this stretch? |

Yes, Amtrak will be detouring. Not sure how long the detour takes them, the folks I know over there didn't get any word on expected arrival times for MSP... |
