Is there any good spots near Target Field for railfanning the BNSF and Northstar? Doug |

The best spot (in my opinion) is the St. Anthony Bridge over Northtown. The tracks by Target field are pretty obstructed. You can take shots from the Fridley station if you want to be tight to the trains. |

Downtown Mpls has several overhead bridges east of Target Field Station with opportunities for "urban" photos. If you go there during weekdays, bring a pocket of quarters to feed the nearby meters or prepare to walk some distance from your car to stand on the downtown bridges. Some side shots are possible between the downtown bridges - again walking away from your car. Next to the river on West River Pkwy provides a view of trains crossing the river - parking is limited and with meters. Walking across the river on the Hennepin Ave bridges allows broadside views of trains crossing the river. Across the river from downtown on Nicollet Island are a couple grade crossings and an overhead bridge and parking nearby without meters. Also remember the Wayzata Sub. isn't very busy. So if you're looking for freight trains downtown, it's good to know in advance when your train is coming. John |

Thanks for the replies. I'm staying at a hotel about 8 blocks from Target Field. Where is the best place to go that is the closest? Doug |

I don't mean to sound rude, but why don't you just go down there and look yourself? The "best" place is down to personal opinion and just look at online maps for the shortest way there. We're only talking about a distance of 1.4 miles (between Stadium and Harrison St.). |

I'm not talking about the best place around Target Field. Where are the best hotspot locations? How far is Northtown Yard, etc. Doug |
