Post subject: | BNSF Coal Train |
I saw a pretty odd site this morning on the way into work. A BNSF west bound coal train led by a couple of Oakways and all BNSF cars was on the Altoona Sub. I have never seen a BNSF train on this sub, I was wondering if their doing some rerouting, anyone heard anything? |

It was probably going to the Bayport power plant. The BNSF brings those trains in on the Staples Sub (they may come in from Willmar too, but I'm not 100% sure about that), then into the cities. The BNSF interchanges the train with the UP at East Minneapolis, and from there the UP takes it to Bayport. Hope this helps Steve |

It was going the opposite direction and was fully loaded. I've seen the train your refering to, but it has always had UP power with at least one DPU because they use that to get the cars into the plant and the cars have always had NSPX markings. This was definitely west bound and had come in from Wisconsin with all BN or BNSF marked cars. |
