I finally had a chance to catch my first coal operation with distributed power! Behind Shady Acres park in Coon Rapids I found out last week is a local line I'm guessing. I saw a BNSF coal operated through there while we were playing softball. I could hear other horns going off but nothing else came by. Are there more tracks near there?? Or is it just the main line headed through Anoka and then Ramsey Mike |

At the southern end of Coon Rapids, the Staples Sub and the Hinckley Sub split, other wise know as Coon Creek. You probably heard a train either heading north or south from the Hinckley Sub, because the coal trains off that line alwasy have DPU's on them. Hope this helps! Steve |

That is the line that goes up to the Twin Ports. |

Its a cool place where the Hinckley and Branard Sub's meet, they have a dedicated "coal main" that leads directly to the Midwest Energy facility I got a shot of the MP sign that had that on it. If you head to the 28th street yard you will see all the coal power laying over it can be a very busy place. FYI this is in Superior, WI. |
