I've absolutely fallen in love with Dayton's Bluff... what a great place to shoot.

1. Any idea as to which train would come in along the river (via the track near the Science Museum, not Robert St. Bridge) with a pair of UP EMD's running long hood forward and a dozen or so hoppers and 5 or 6 autoracks?

2. Is it possible to execute a nice glint shot from up there? I managed a nice evening shot on Saturday, and was pleased with the results, but I wasn't really what I was trying to accomplish:

3. Does ICE/DME ever send anything through that area?

4. Does anyone have a 400 mm lens they'd like to lend me?

The train was a UP local that services their Auto Rack facility and the grain mill just up Warner Rd a bit. I can't remember the cross street but I'm sure someone here will provide it.

I've never seen the ICE/DME come past pigseye.

I enjoyed your shots as it is one of my favorite locations also.

This is probably my favorite shot that I've taken from there.

Well, yesterday the scene changed at the Bluff. The signal bridge to the west of the Warner Road bridge fell down. It sounds like it came down on a Z Train and got dragged into a CP freight, but I cannot confirm that at this point. The bridge was removed within a couple of hours and traffic resumed. I stopped down today and there were 30+ MOW and signalmen looking at the scene. It is probably making things interesting for the dispatchers without those signals in place.

Edit: Here is the Pioneer Press Article (with picture).

The CP train actually hit it and it fell on a passing Z. Leave it to the CP to cause the BNSF more problems....
