Hey, after looking at many pictures of Westminister from the Layfette Bridge, I went down to check out the area. I found the Phalen Blvd. Bridge, a great place for pictures. It's right over one of the tunnels there. There's ample sidewalk room on each side of the bridge and on the North side of the bridge is a platform off the bridge with great views of the BNSF to St. Paul and the CP to SOO Line Junction. Also there is a imformation board with a brief history of the railroads in the area. If your by there stop and get some great pictures.

Yea I can't hardly pass up talking about that spot.

Braham have you been to that location lately, they have leveled off the top of the hill and quite a few trees are down.

The Phalen Blvd bridge is a good spot to shoot from, but the trees & other brush need to be cut back seriously around the NP tunnels. Another good spot to shoot is from the bridge that starts the Brice Vento Trail that is right next to the BNSF bridge(s) over old 4th street. I shot the clean up efforts of the U.P. Proviso-South St. Paul derailment clean up from the bridge. To get to the "new railfan park" which is on the opposite side of the Division Street Wye, you have to either walk over via the Bruce Vento Trail from the free "postage stamp" parking lot, or pay $3.00 to use the pay lot that is right next to the park & the U.P. leg of the wye.
