As many of you know I'm the webmaster for the MN Rail guide [see link]. We've got a lot of the state's industrial locomotives covered but there are still a lot with no info/photos on the site. If I compiled a list of those ones lacking data would folks be interested? Not only would it be something added to watch for in those railfan trips you might also be able to help fill in some of the guide's gaps http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rrclubum/rr-guide.htm |

Do you have any info on an engine going to Renville/Ruebel, MN for the Southern Minnesota Beet CO-OP? I found a note saying that ILSX 734 went to the TC&W for Renville and from what I could find, it's an SW1. This was in 3/4/1998. |

Alright - by popular demand here is the list of units/operations undocumented still on the site. No doubt one could do some creative mapping and hit a whole mess of industrial operations in one weekend! The SW part of the state seems to have the most gaps... And of course I'm sure there are units out there that aren't on any list we have yet - it is just a matter of finding them. http://www.tc.umn.edu/~rrclubum/mn-ind-misc.htm I've heard the same on the SW1, Mike. You've got as much info there as I have. The numbering is different than most ILS units but I don't have any newer info than 2002 and a lot can happen in 4 years. I'd certainly appreciate more info [and photos] if anyone out there can help. |

I get to the sugar beet plant for work every once and a while. The last time I saw the unit it was still painted Amtrak colors. Hope that is of some help. |

When was that? The only photo I found of it was in 1978 and it was all black, with white lettering I think. |

Got a photo or two by any chance of the unit? We can use some info and shots of them on the MN Rail Guide! |

Thanks for the report! Interesting that it is ILS still, it isn't on the ILS rosters. Will check and see if it is simply a case of "we bought it but still haven't repainted anything". I think that a number of photo processing places around here can do slide, negative, etc. scanning - not just the average photo scans. They also make slide add-ons for regular photo scanners... |
