I just looked at your PICS of the derailment. Looks like quite the mess. I see a few overturned cars were very close to a road where a railfan might even choose to stand. Do you know how fast this train was moving when it derailed? |

Speed limit is 55mph in town, the sun is always on the "wrong" side so I have not taken many pictures on that side, I have a spot just east of there on a hill thats great for pics (when they are on the rail). The cars took out one of two grade crossings as well as closing the underpass as the last car to remain on the rails was still on the bridge. there where two trains that had already passed Glenwood and where stuck behind him so there was a full court press to get the line back up, I cant remember the last time I have seen that much activity at least up there. |

The SD9 is owned by the Co-op now part of CHS mill in Herman. It looks to be of Southern Pacific hertiage due to the Mars light, however I did not get a frame number to look up, so fot the time being this one even stumps me |
