CALGARY, Alta. - Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 "Hudson" steam locomotive 2816 won't be making any public trips this year, CP spokesman Mike LoVecchio said. The engine will be in a "maintenance cycle," he said.
The engine, owned by CP and kept at Ogden Yard in Calgary, is used on publicity trips for its owner. Last year the engine crossed the Canadian Rockies; the previous year, it visited the U.S. Midwest.
TRAINS has also learned Bill Stetler, until recently head of CP's steam program, has taken a job with Amtrak and is no longer employed at CP.
The railroad does plan to continue its steam program, however, and currently plans to return No. 2816 to operation after her maintenance cycle is complete. ------ From TRAINS News Wire.
