Any more info on the NLR expandiong to take on the local service to Little Falls and Sartell or the the power changes mentioned earlier?

Thanks for the updates. Would be nice to see them pull in some PHL power [and maybe even get their own paint scheme finally!], they are getting the new units starting this fall so that might time out nicely if the Geeps are self destructing... The PHL fleet is pretty interesting, though the more interesting stuff is the 6-axle power.

Talking to my uncle at our local train nerds gathering on Monday I tried to press him for onfo. He thinks they will do all the yard switching by summer. The BNSF is going to hold on to the west local( the Sartell job) and the run to Northtown. The line to Cold spring may have only 1 summer left as Cold spring granite closed there downtown location. The only thing they do is unload railcars there. The line would have to be upgraded to reach there new location west of town. They are on the lookout for new business and are moving more cars than BNSF did.

Since it had been several months, I split this topic into the "update" thread.

Word on the street is that the crews at St Cloud are being told to sign up for jobs out of Northtown and Willmar now so it sounds like the yard take-over is coming soon. Any more word from up in that direction?

Time is running out for the line to Cold Spring. The one customer still there is only supposed to get service until the 20th of October. We usually make the run to Cold Spring on Wednesdays in the afternoon. Just a heads up for anyone who's interested.

sorry it took so long to reply. the train nerd group is a bunch of us who belonged to the train club at R and R hobbies when it was open in st. cloud. when the store closed we met round robin style at people's houses. we meet on mondays, but haven't met all summer.

I was over in Saint Cloud this morning and took a look over in the yard to see what was going on.
#1703 was looking very sorry for itself rather blackened around the engine compartment. I don't know if perhaps there had been an engine fire or something?
