A post on the OMR Yahoo! group mentioned that MNN 1463 and MNN 1484 will be 3rd and 4th on a DILNTW on duty at 1100 with BNSF 8280 as the leader. Mentioned that they will be going to ILS in Bethel, MN. I'll be keeping an ear out for this one, would hope to get it during the day, though I have my doubts.

Both are Ex Nickle Plate Geep 9's with tall short hoods. The otvr has gotten a lot of new power lately and just a guess but I doubt we will see them on the otvr again.

This train, which actually had BNSF 6968 as the leader, passed through Clear Lake after 7pm tonight. While trailing (Oh the humanity!) it was still cool to see these pair of GP's as it is a railroad I have never railfanned. It got me to thinking, are there any of these high hoods left on the OTVR?

MNN 1483 was relettered into OTVR marks this summer so I am guessing it will stick around for awhile. with the other 2 leaving it is possibly now the last high hood geep on a local shortline.

I don't think a Superior train has ever set out power at bethel , always been on the local.

I hope these get the ILS chop job. It would be nice to see these two with low noses in ILS (or even SCXY) colors.

Both getting chopped. 1484 (If I remember) had some major issues in it, bad enough it may be parted out.

Noses being chopped or the whole engines being scrapped/parted?[/quote]


Last I knew just possible parting out of 1 locomotive- but depending on severity of repairs needed. If that is not the case and they both go into service both noses would be chopped.
