Not the fog shots I had hoped for but I decided to think outside of the box a little bit and grabbed these:

After getting into position and waiting a short time I was able to catch the BN/CP transfer heading towards the bluff.

After waiting around on the overpass for a bit and seeing nothing coming or going towards me I decided to move on and try a different spot I hadn't yet been to. A coal train came into view.

I also experimented with some panning shots but nothing really turned out. I will try that again soon though. These are not the fog shots I had hoped for with the dense fog we had today. I am, however glad I decided to go out on my day off regardless as it had been a while since I was out railfanning.

fog???? I woke up at 7AM to bright annoying sunshine.....then went to grand rapids and fought the snow. Ohh I cant wait for some nice foggy spring mornings.

I was out shooting in the fog as well this morning. Where I was it was very, very thick and any attempts to go past 70mm were useless. From looking at your photos it didn't seem to be as thick in St. Paul. Did you try any zoom shots? It looks like it was good conditions for some foggy zoom shots.

I didn't get out, but I heard that there was fog most of the day in the river bottom! The Shakopee Job would have been in it.
