I made a last minute decision this morning to head trackside before the predicted clouds and rain arrived. I left the house at 7:20 and headed for pigseye where the sun was not good, I headed on down 61 and over to Red Rock road where the Peavey Switcher was sitting out in the open for a couple of shots. Next stop was along Highway 61 where I caught Amtrak and a CP stack train heading past the hump yard. I made my way up to 7th street and caught a UP light power move coming off the Midway Sub. Feeling like keeping on the move I headed back to the car only to hear and then see a UP coal train coming down the same Sub. I hustled through downtown St. Paul and across the Robert Street bridge where I finally got a decent shot. I then headed on down to Barge Chanel Road to try and catch it again, I only found a DPU on coal train sitting there. Next stop was the first pedestrain bridge from Barge Channel. Unfortunatley its still closed. (This bridge is going to produce some nice oppurtunity for PICS of the bridge heading over to Hoffman once it reopens) I went on down a little further to the road bridge which was also closed but I could walk across it. I caught the a pair of UP's shoving cars around and finally the before shot coal train came through. Then sun disapeared shorty after and when I checked the clock it was 11:00. I headed for home with what I felt was a pretty succesfull 3 1/2 hours. The PICS in the album are in order of the day. Hope you enjoy |
