With the weather so-so I still decided to make the jaunt to University taking the chance that a coal train would not be there blocking a railfan's chances of seeing anything moving about. Pulling into the usual location I first noticed Aaron B. from Elk River and his dad sitting trackside. Next thing I notice is a red Ford Explorer. I then quickly spot my first train and got out of my truck to snag this shot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041885808/ Shot of second unit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041884334/ I quickly realize that the Ford Explorer I have spotted is MilwaukeeroadMatt and crew. MRM informed me that it had been a busy day so far, I was hoping the trend would continue and sure enough it did. Next up, a familiar looking consist just different order: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041884604/ The first CP action of the day for me: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041885132/ A couple of Santa Fe Warbonnets approach elephant style in need of a repaint. This was a autorack train. I was glad the sun worked in my favor for this next shot. TCWR 4302 works a string of cars. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041887348/ Next a couple SOO SD60s roll past. I did what I could to bag the TCWR unit in this shot as well. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041886642/ Next was a UP movement: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041090205/ In my next shot you can see first hand the huge difference in H2 painted power. Quite a contrast! http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041884858/ My last train of the day was a coal train running with DPU. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041884740/ DPU: http://www.flickr.com/photos/11254161@N08/2041884974/ Overall wish we would have had more sun (and warmth) but for this time of year I can't complain too much. Good to see you trackside again, MRM. Thanks for reading/looking! |

Nice catch on the CEFX SD9043MAC and SOO SD60's. November is overall the cloudiest month of the year in Minnesota, so I wouldn't get your hopes up for sun, if I were you. |

Indeed cold and windy just wait a few more weeks stuck in out until the sun went down and ended the day with 28 trains. |
