Well a marathon day trackside on Sunday not only provided a full day of trains (30+) it also brought a rare Central Kansas Railway GP7 past my camera on the LINNTW. Anyone have a guess where it may be heading? |

I can tell you that it was sitting on a siding in New Brighton on Saturday September 12th. It caught my eye so I went home and returned with a camera. This loco actually motivated me to search for a forum like this to see if I could learn more about local railroading. Anyone know the story behind this unit's presence? CF |

despite saying Central Kansas. I shot it out in Loveland CO. in Jan. how ironic that I traveled hundreds of miles and see this unit, only to have it show up 45 miles from home. I will have to get down there to get a better shot, the one I got was a LONG LONG ways out. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=1454842 where is this sitting? is it still in the MN ComMercials yard in New Brighton? Also of note, look at the sweet spark arrestors over the exhaust. |

Guessing as I always do but I would think the unit may be heading to Horicon for some paint, or to LTEX in McDonald, OH. Only guessing but it sure was nice to have her visit, always like to see older power form far away lands |

Thanks Matt! That's the sort of information I thought I might find here. I wasn't familiar with Horicon but did a search. Seems like a reasonable explanation for the unit's appearance here. Might we catch a glimpse of it on a return trip with a new paint job? CF |

Here are my pics of it when it came into town. That was one cool unit, it had inspection dates stamped on its back truck dating back to the 1950s!! I'll be posting another shot shortly that I took that is much better lit up, just been busy with college. http://wc_sd45_7500.rrpicturearchives.n ... x?id=91988 Douglas New Brighton, MN |
