Post subject: | Twin ports part two |
Well I have traveled over 1300 miles in the month of April trying my best to catch some great rail action across the state. The skies where cloudy but the wind and rain held off until Sunday morning, Friday evening was spent along the inner harbor of lake Superior where I was able to catch a CP local and several DM&IR trains on the ore dock. Saturday I spent most of the day searching for old and forgotton reminents of railroads, I was able to find several pieces of rolling stock buried in weeds and mud never to run on rails again. The afternoon was spent along the BNSF main lines in Superior and points east where the main action was coal heading to midwest energy and the ships of the great lakes. Sunday I was greated by wind (waves of 8ft on the lake) and rain that showed no signs of stopping, so I decided it was time to head home not wanting to leave with only half full card on the camera I stoped in Proctor to get a few more roster shots of the DM&IR, again happy to see that all units that day where DM&IR units, I drove home with the feeling that I have closed the book on the twin ports..... for now. Next trip will be to Iowa, chasing the IC&E and to get a glimps of the last electrified freight railway the Iowa Traction Railroad along with a few of the short lines that operate "down there" |
