In the last couple weeks I've tried to railfan the staples sub on two occasions. The weather did not cooperate either time but I did see some trains. First time out I was stationed near Sauk Center. I caught heading east. Then with an interesting consist as well as this shot into some turbulent weather.

The second time out I didn't feel like driving all that far so I stopped in Big Lake and caught heading east with some nice exhaust heat obscuring the grain elevator. Soon after this went by I caught heading west. Shortly after that came this z train with leading. Hearing some chatter on the scanner from Becker I headed up that way and found a empty coal train about to leave the power plant, but unfortunately none of the PICS are useable.
I hope the next time I'm able to railfan that line the weather will cooperate as I scouted some pretty good loactions to shoot from.

Did you mean Sauk Rapids? The rails through Sauk Center are all but history now. What days where you up there?
