I had to be in Rogers @19:30 and had 3 hours to kill on the way so I hung around Elk River for 2 hours. parked just west of the old mill, right next to A-1 Batteries, was there maybe 15 minutes when I hear a whislte. jump out and its been so long since I have taken a pic of a train do 60mph it caught me WAY off gaurd. sit another 20 minutes or so, hear another whistle, these guys come flying by get back in truck, while talking on the phone the only westbounder sneaks up on me seconds after they cleared I jump in the truck, hit review and hear another whistle, thinking it was just them farther up the tracks, there was a stiff east wind, I see the arms coming down, didn't even get out of the truck and flies up on me, hence why the nose is cut off. waited around another 20 or so and had to leave. 4 trains in a lil over an hour I was happy. off to Rogers for a hair cut. need to brush up on my 30+MPH photo taking, I have gotten WAY spoiled with the 10 MPH slow order in Cambridge. |

I know what you mean about them flying through there, first time I tried to shoot Amtrack up there I never even made it out of the car it caught me so off guard. Glad you saw some action though, I hope Friday will produce the same kind of results. |
