I have known that trains (from either direction) will re-crew in Northtown and often hear "take the power to the house." If I hang out long enough, I will hear the same train, different crew, ask for permission to take power to the train.
My suspicion of power swapping at Northtown has been closer to confirmed as yesterday Mike V saw the in Elk River with BNSF 7668. I saw it hours earlier at University with BNSF 6821 (swooshied SD40-2). Yet further photos show the and the with the same power I saw at the other end of NTW.
Is this done for any special reason? I know units are "stationed" or serviced out of certain yards, would this be the case?
