Does anybody know if there are railroad operating manuals that have smaphore signal indications in them? Also is there any smaphore signals in the cities here? |

straight out, same as a green means clear. 45 degree angle, same as a yellow, means proceed prepare to stop at next signal. straight up, same as a red, stop. you can stack them just like lights and make approach diverging's and advance approaches all the weird new signals, but I doubt any railroad did. there is an old one out in Wayzeta but its not operational, and its off the tracks 20 feet or so in a park. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2324737 ... 7554YqxgDt I'd give you directions but I have no clue how I got there Aaron drove us out there. I do know its right next to the old Depot, and is on a huge lake. on edit, PM Milwaukeeroadmatt I set him a HUGE packet of RR stuff. I know there were all the signals in there, it might have some semiphore indications in there. |

Yeah, semaphores with arms are a throwback and are cool, but I don't know if there is a true benefit between the difference. But I am not a railroader and do not have to interpret nor abide by them. |

Yah, There were the famous ones in Chicago at the jounction of the UP, NS, ??, in Brighton Park that were until July 6th. 2007 opeated by a signalman in a nearby shack. But, like the others, they fell to more modern remotely controlled color lights. SO SAD |
