I'll let you guys look at it and figure out what it is, and what the loco pulling it is. reporting marks were GCFX 3085, sorry MRM I told you the wrong number on the phone,

the disp. and the cond. were both having problems remembering the letters for the warrant, said it was heading to Brainered restricted to 30 mph, 8 axles work platform on the rear. looked like a MOW spike puller but I am pretty sure it had Loram name and numbers on it.

Looks to me like a production tamper - a bit hard to tell from that shot. I'd have to check - did you look for it on Plasser's site? Looks like one of their products...

GCFX 3085 started life on the CP as 5518 in 1966. Now classified as an SD40-2.

The BNSF classifies the GCFX 3085 as a SD40, not SD40-2. From the way you worded it, I thought you were sincerely asking what kind of engine it was. My bad...I guess.

I was again wondering on the GCFX, never heard of them before.
