First I want to say John Hill has been a big inspiration to me in some of the things I am starting to shoot. he has done tons of documenting, he has pictures of things none of us would think to shoot. so one of the things I have started to do is check the date on the rails in front of me searching for the oldest ones I could find. I managed to find a 1920 right in my back yard, and as I type this I am in Grand Forks where I found the oldest I have ever seen 1906. http://brahamfireman.rrpicturearchives. ... x?id=36626 does anyone else do this and what/where is the oldest rails in the twin Cities. Just one more thing for us to take a picture of when where out there. |

I'd have to dig through my hardrive to verify, but I think the siding in Northfield had 1924 track. |

I found this one in St. Cloud while dodging the National Guard with MRM I like your thought process Matt, I tend to shoot anything rail related, depots, switches, signs, etc. |

I remember walking the tracks on the Milwaukee line to Eau Claire. Somewhere between Wis 35 and Durand there were some pieces dated 1898! It looked about the size of my N scale. To anyone collecting date nails.. we found plenty of them. You can locate the rails along the Hwy. The crossing is gone, but the rails run right up to the road. |

Was down taking slides in Northfield and the Cannon Falls branch had some 1899. Out side of Owatonna on the ex-Milw. 1894 to 1920 in the same mile of track. My friend has some CGW rail stack in a field outside of Stewardville near Rochester. |
