Another 9 FURX SD40-2's arrived at NTW Sunday which by my rough count brings it to 60 some odd units now being stored at NTW, also on Saturday the V-CHCTAC had 5 SD75M/SD75I's dead in the consist but continued west with them. I would think the RR would find a better location (climate) to store locomotives but hay I'm not complaining I love seeing these old workhorse's!

The 75s that went west are headed to Interbay to be put back in storage. The 8299 is headed this way on the H BRCNTW and it's planned to be stored at Northtown. A B CHISEA is also coming with 5 more SD75s for Interbay. The same thing happened last night on a B CHISEA.

The days of the 75s are likely over on BNSF.

Thats a sad sight but one we knew would becomming sooner or later with the older power. Too bad the SD75 are to big to survive in yard service and are not all that attractive to short lines for fuel consumption and weight issues I know some of them would love to have that power on their line. I wonder if the railfans of 40+ years ago had the same feelings of atatchment to a locomotive that we have now and where just as mad (or sad) to see the old F and E units first go into storage and than to the scrap heap. At least now we have locomotive leasing and rebuild companies out there who are able to give some of these units a second chance.

Well get your pics while you can, as fast as the units came to NTW they are leaving just as fast. On Saturday the H-NTWKCK had 8 and Sunday's NTWKCK had 7. The chatter between the train crew and the switch tender indicated they are on the way to Texas to be sold, I hope to another railroad and not a scrap dealer. Side note Sunday's NTWGAL had the BNSF 6873 was the lead unit so that was a very nice thing to see

I saw the 7217 inside the deisel shop at NTW today and she was tore up pretty good, talking to the shop guys they have to make sure all the units are in good running order before they are sent back to FURX so I would think that the units still at NTW will be saved from the scrappers torch at least for now.
