Who is responsible for makiing sure the Reefer Car is working when it is enroute? Is it a diesel operated motor? If it quits while the train is underway does it have an alert system? Are there many of these cars in use today? I guess I don't notice many. |

Matt got me into collecting photos of the refer cars. But you may notice the white cars with blue "Lambert" name on the side, operated by First Union Rail (FURX). I believe the UP still runs alot of refer service in Cali, and the juice train on the east coast should be refer cars. This company and their new service was discussed at RP.net recently: http://www.railexusa.com/ Despite being between Washington state and New York, and the fact that the UP will handle half the trip, I don't see that they will pass through MN. |
