I came across this a few minutes ago. Its a great shot, but the thing that drives me crazy is where the photo was taken from. People seriously drive me nuts by thinking that its alright to go anywhere and do anything....including setting up a tripod on an active railroad bridge. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bree-r/928616188/ Anyway, just thought that I'd post a message about this because I've seen more and more photos on flickr with local photographers trespassing on railroad property all around the metro. They better not screw things up for the rest of us. For instance, this discussion proves my point, with this being the main quote that I noticed: "See it's a fun place.... Make sure you take the railroad tracks!!!! It's easier to get to the Mill and a shorter walk with great photo oppurtunities. Should be fun on Sunday" http://flickr.com/groups/tc/discuss/72157605520584820/ |

It is only a matter of time before all track side locations are closed off for good because of a few people who make a poor choice and end up getting injured or worse, I encourge anyone who sees a trespasser to call it in heck if you do it enough it may even get you on a first name basis with the call takers and a guided tour of the yard never hurts to be on the safe side. |

Note that in the flicker forum someone said "...you don't need to bring bail money...". So they do know that they could get caught and some have probubly gotten arrested goes to the fact that they just don't care about law=safety. They've got an atturney on their hands!!!!!!! |

The thing I find strange is that one of the participants of the "flickrwalk" was a retired law professor. I saw his photos posted and sure enough, he entered the abandoned mill and walked around. I don't know how sealed off (if it even is), but isn't that breaking and entering? Shouldn't a law professor know better? At least the one law professor I've had would defiantly know better. I've also read suggestions for past "flickrwalks" where this lady (whom frequently shoots railroad related things and also trespasses...) suggested a railroad themed gathering. I can only hope that there will be no way that ever happens |
