Not sure what the future holds for the ex-NS slugs but I think the TC&W finally realized that slugs aren't all that great. I don't have any proof of it, but I would imagine that the only place a slug would really help would be on the Savage Turn. However, since the loads go downgrade and the empties go up, I would think more dynamics would be more useful. The speed limit on the entire TCWR system is 30MPH and the slugs cut out at 25MPH. Going 10MPH on the MPL they work (302 is there now) fine, but you really don't need much power to get a train to 10MPH. Might be useful coming east up the hill from Morton though.
I hope they put them in service, at least for a little bit. I've never gotten any photos on them moving, only sitting in Glencoe.
The 201 was wrecked in 1995 along with the 405 in a collision with a BN train at Jamestown, ND.
Now if they could just realize how cool EMD power is...
