The tri-monthly newsletter put out by the TC&W came out today and it mentioned plans for a new siding in Bongards. Bongards is located about 4.5 miles of the siding in Cologne and I would guess the siding would be built west of town since I think there is more room there. Here is a snip out of the newsletter:
Our
Board of Directors recognizes our
growth. In 2007, they approved an
increase in the tie replacement
program and just recently approved
an $800,000 expenditure to build a
siding at Bongards to accommodate
the increase in the number of trains.
$800,000 for what should be a pretty simple installtion gives me hope that they will build it to proper length; 10,000+ ft. I wonder if the planned rock trains played a roll in getting this new siding?
The TC&W is slowing starting to become a
real railroad.
