I went to Glenco today for work and noticed a CF-7 behind the shop complex. It appered to be a Reading and Northern unit. Is this a parts source or a new slug candidate?

I wonder if it is new power? Discussion here lately has pondered the need for more power. Or, it could be for parts for their current CF7.

The TCWR bought the 1503 & 1504 from the Reading & Northern a few years back. The 1503 has been on the TCWR since it was purchased, but from what I understand it is rarely seen or used. The 1504 is used on the RRVW.

I'll take the sighting as confermation its alive and well I saw the 1504 last week in Breckenridge in service on the snow train, I would assume that the 1503 will be placed in service as it is a running unit. I think a run out there next weekend for photos is in order.

Thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it!

When they first arrived on September 2, 2002 the plan was to convert them to slugs and convert the 404 and 406 to slug mothers to be used on the MPL. That didn't happen. The 1503 arrived wounded and needed work to be operational. Before the 1503 was fixed, the 1504 was sent to the RRVW in October of 2002 and has never returned. As of 2004, the 1504 has not been converted into a slug.
Since the arrival of both units, I have never seen either of them. Kinda sad considering how much I see the TC&W. Oh well, it's an excuse to head out to Glencoe. I can count the number of times I've been there on one hand.

Other than the 1503 there was no action on the tracks, the unit remains unmarked just the road number and the reading and northern crossed out.
