The derailment was on BNSF's Midway Sub - as of 5 pm today they lined up the NSPX cars upside down near the tracks and used the coal to pave a road to get to the site. They were relaying the wye and repairing MetroTransit's fences. At least two cabooses were there with work trains - the NE wye track was still severed but the main that goes south was intact. At sundown the work crews started to pull out and those of us working at Jackson St. heard the first trains of the night start rolling on the south track around 7:30 pm. FYI - the warehouse in the photos is the old WM recycling center, I can't remember the new owner but another recycling transload area. This is just easy of the roundhouse and where the caboose rides terminate. |

Here's a pic of the work you describe on the NE wye. I was just lucky to catch a UP coal train heading south as I was heading overto work. Xrayguy |
