Sitting in Farmington City Hall for a follow-up briefing, the Fire Marshall spoke about stopping rail traffic. They only thought about problems posed by a train after hearing the train's horn as it was crossing 170th St. It took a few minutes and talking with several people at the UP by Dakota Co dispatchers to finally stop the southbound train. The train came to rest less than a mile away. I suppose the crew died on the law since they were held for > 8 hours. Ironically, as we discussed this, I noted the crossing gates go down. A southbound freight came through. A typical SD70M was on point, but a patched SP AC4400CW helped out. |

I guess with your "official" hat on you had to keep your "railfan" hat tucked away with the camera and forgo any pictures of the SP |
