With all the problems south it was only a matter of time before they had to cancel the run between here and Chicago. I stoped at the depot this morning and caught number 8 turning at the commercial to become tonights 7, I only wish they would have continued west across the Mississippi into Minneapolis now that would have been a cool picture |

They take the connection track towards the old transcon line and than shove back to the CP Merriam Park Sub than pull back to the depot. |

Amtrak has issued an update and they have no end date in sight yet to restore service between St. Paul and Chicago. I have been going by the depot every day and have figured out it is a five day turn on the power sets. What ever power is on the train say on Monday will be back on Friday I have been holding out some hope for a Cascades unit to make an appearence but non have showed up yet |

cooorect unless the freight unit is rated for the higher speed, which most arent. I think he is talking about the cascade Amtrak units, kinda look like the Sounder units out west. one came through a year or so ago IIRC. |

They are routed on UP from Tunnel City to Chicago from what I have been told. Not the fastest but at least it is back in service again... |

Being naive, where is Tunnel City and how do they get from here to there? |
