Due to the RNC, Amtrak will be using the Midway sub at least for this upcoming week.

I saw a platform built along side the tracks just below the Science Museum, along Shepard Road. There must be some kind of special event going on there.

We watched both the [late] 8 and the on time 7 roll by Jackson St. Roundhouse today [we weren't going to miss Amtrak making a cameo appearance in our backyard]. It was nice to see the passenger service on the Midway, if only for the week.

The 7 had the private car Patron Tequila Express on the tail. No other new cars besides the usual suspects were spotted at Midway earlier today. I would assume there will be more PV to watch for in the next day or two.

UP and BN both have trains down on the river, no matter what you say about UP you have to admit these guys know how to throw a party. Something like 30 very sharp cars are parked at SPUD compared to just 6 from BN down at the Science Museum/District Energy. Right now the parking lots along Shepard are open and people were milling about checking out the UP train...
