Let me get this right now. with the derailment are they going to run them on the BNSF side??? and was this mornings #8 behind the derailment and then stuck on the river? therefore is yesterdays #8 tonites #7 after wyeing????? Also there is a derailment out west of Williston ND as of this very minute there is no #8 crossing MT or ND. they were busing people from eastern MT to Williston, I dont think there is a wye in Williston so unless they run the power around or the derailment out there is cleaned up we might be seeing the same locos and cars running back and forth. there is realy no good place to wye the train other then Grand Forks so they might run it backwards to there and wye it then again here like they did yesterday. this could get interesting. the ONLY good thing to come out of all this, I have tickets to Chicago on Jan 2nd and a return trip on the 9th. how cool would that be to take the BNSF side of the river buy train . |

I think it was Outstatemn Yahoo group where I read that two BNSF units moved the Empire Builder east while the Amtrak units stayed on the other end to move it back westbound. That was somewhere in NoDak. |

It looks like CP is hoping to have tonight's #7 run on its normal route (Channel 8 in La Crosse was reporting this via a CP spokesperson). The main track is clear at the derailment site and crews are working to repair the track that was knocked out. I'm not actually sure if Amtrak ran on the BNSF yesterday. Number 8 was not behind the derailment on the river sub as it was over 6 hours late, which was probably good. |

Amtrak was somewhat close to being on time today, maybe 3-4 hours late. No BNSF power on it out of Midway though, just three P42s. |

Just a heads up today's 8 12/19/08 is expected to arrive Midway at 18:15 11 hours late and tomorrows 8 12/20/08 is already 6.5 hours late so expect her to arrive later than that tomorrow early to mid afternoon. side note there are three 7's between Chicago and Seattle right now. |

Fridays 8 departed Midway at 19:43. The consist looked of except for the snow and ice everywhere and all three Amtrak units where running. The baggage car was on the rear of the train with the doors open about three feet, the inside of the car was covered with about 8 inches of snow no baggage was in the car just the snow. The commercial added to coaches to the rear behind the baggage car before the train left. Todays (12/20) train is not expected until 13:30-14:30 this afternoon |

Saturdays 8 came through University just before 2pm and for the second day in a row the baggage car had open doors with snow inside, How mad would you bee to have all you bags covered in snow. Saturdays 7 was still at the depot Sunday morning, not sure what the issue is but both units where running but the train only had four cars, 8 is not expected until 21:00 so I may venture out in the cold for some more night shots at Midway. |
