If all hold true #7 AND #8 should meet somewhere between Midway and Hastings tonite, as of now #8 is 14 hours and 10 minutes late, don't know what happened yet but thats the story as of now.

Departed STC @ 20:02 with the BNSF 4304 on point.

Number 8 arrived Midway @ 21:30 and departed @ 21:50, they where meeting #7 at Division St. The train was turned somewhere out west so the three Amtrak units (118,55,145) and baggage car where on the rear of the train and the last Portland sleeper was behind the lead (BNSF) locomotive. Kind neat only wush I could have caught a 7/8 meet at Midaway.

Found the answer finaly! Air troubles. copied from NDRR yahoo group.


The westbound Empire Builder that struck the pedestrian outside of Chicago on December 10 and became 6 hours late because of it (and the bad diner) made up over 2 hours of the deficit (in spite of the cold across North Dakota and Montana) and arrived just less than 4 hours late in Seattle. The train was turned in about 3 and a half hours and departed as train 8-12 some 76 minutes late. The train was as little as 25 minutes late at Havre, and then the sub-zero cold (and reduced maximum allowable speed) made the train 52 minutes late arriving Minot, where it then sat overnight due to air trouble. Finally, a BNSF locomotive was placed on the rear of the train, which did the trick, and the whole train was wyed at Minot, and departed with the Amtrak power on the rear of the train to Chicago, where it finally arrived the following morning, just over 15 hours late.

Well here they go again, Sunday's (12/20) number 8 is already 2 hrs late and has yet to show a departure from Seattle, lets see what happens ove the next day and a half me we will get that 7/8 meet @ Midway I have been waiting for!

that sucks. ever since the backwards #8, ALL E.B.'s were under 10 minutes late. this morning a 7 and an 8 were EARLY. with the snow predicted for Sunday I dont think they will make up much time....

#8 for Monday 2/1 is showing 6 hours late out of Spokane right now. havent figured out the reason but they lost all time between Euphrata and Spokane WA.

#8 (2/10) arrived in Minot 23 minutes early only to leave 2 hours and 3 minutes late!

#8 (2/11) has left Seattle 2 hours and 20 minutes late.

Amazingly #8 (2/11) has made up all its time and is only 6 minutes late.

Tonites #7 is sitting in Winona reporting that it will be leaving 1 hour and 10 minutes late after arriving on time. anyone know whats up with that?
