I'm just about done kit bashing a few of my old MP15's and was wondering if anyone else remembers seeing the electronic bell speakers that where mounted on the cabs of these units. Has anyone seen these on other loco's or was this strictly on the MILW MP15's. I can still hear these on quite nights in the summer sitting in my back yard......... O wait thats the LRT |

Those were what the square horn like structures on the cab roofs? I think I may even have a shot of one somewhere....Guess I wasn't paying attention to the bells sound-maybe they weren't using em when I've been around. The yard crews didn't seem to be using them. |

That would be correct, some had them caged depending on where they where intended to be used. I never did find a reason as to why they used these rather than real bells my guess would be they could adjust the volume to enhance safety. |

Not only that, but imagine air powered bells on a cold day--not always going to work. Pretty much, anything you can do to eliminate moving parts is always better. |

I'm anxiously awaiting the Athearn MP15-ac's...I have some brass ones, and they are nice, but needing more than a few of them (They are a Twin Cities signature item) I wonder if those will have the bells? Or better yet, whose detail parts line has one! |
