Friend of mine who lives in Rice sent this question to me:

"For the last three weeks, the trains heading west bound have run at extremely reduced speed as they approach Rice. Once they hit the city limits, they begin to speed up. East bound trains will run at normal speeds. From what I can tell there is no work being done between Rice and Sartell. Just seems weird. Any ideas? Just curious..."

I'm wondering if there's some kind of speed restriction on Main 1 between St. Cloud and Rice. On Out State Minnesota yahoo group forum another member thought maybe it was due to trains slowing down for waiting at Gregory.

I would have to guess a slow order somewhere on Main 1. without seeing the line in person I cant say for sure.

Sounds like speed restrictions were in place the last few weeks. Also the westbounds are slowing down due to the traffic ahead at Gregory.
