I believe this is an SW1. I am not a great identifier of switchers though. Does the Schreier Malting Co lease this then or outright own it?

Yes it is an SW1. This unit started life as Amtrak 250 renumbered to 732 and than sold to Scheier Malting which is a spin off of Cargill. I do not know when it was sold to ILS however it is leased to General Mills T mill where you got the pic's. There is a 35 ton GE switcher which is also a former Cargill unit owned by ILS and leased to the General Mills elevator on 37th street one block south of the T mill.

The best time to see the 35 tonner is September to early November when the mills car loads are the up. I would almost think if they got one engin serviced the other might be due as well, I will be checking for the next few weeks just in case.

The 35 tonner is stored in the little shed at the Big G elevator off Hiawatha, not the ADM one on the highway but the one east of the tracks. When I worked for Mpls Public Works I saw it working in the summer, mornings were the best times to have a chance of seeing it. ILS doesn't own this critter, I don't think they have a single GE on their fleet and nothing this small... Still marked Shreier as well like this unit.

Great catch on this one, I never have seen it myself! Which elevator exactly does it work?
