CP does have CTC out to Glenwood West. The pole was coming out of a small metal building at the west end of Paynesville siding. Wires appeared to go underground, leading from the shack to the electric switch machine. Interesting! The RR's use other antennas for various forms of communications as well, but the antenna you saw at Litchfield is what allows us to monitor that (it kind of looks like a paper clip extended from a little mast on the bungalow). That is a VHF radio antenna. If the CP has something similar, I'd love to go check it out. Usually ATCS antennas are quite higher and mounted 20-30 feet above the ground. They need much more clearance on a 900mhz frequency.

That is more than likely ATCS. Usually a yagi on 900mhz frequency will look like that. Can you tell if it is a fairly new installation or is it pretty worn-down?

If you have a scanner capable of receiving 900mhz frequencies, you should be able to hear the data chirps on the audio. There are 5 different frequency options.

The CP has three 900. Mhz frequencies along the Paynsville 911.5, 913.0 and 918.5. They are listed as LN - 902-928 MHz Location Narrowband (Non-multilateration)

hmm...ATCS frequencies are 936.xxx usually. Not sure here unless you head out that way MRM and tune in with the scanner.

I figured out the frequencies in that range are for the AEI readers and not ATSC I could find no frequencies in the upper 900. range listed for the CP anywhere in the state.
