It wasn't long after I pulled into the yard that I caught another trio of EMDs.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnfladung/2614305499/I thought it was somewhat odd that they cut off the train from the power and then raced west. I would quickly learn why they did this.
As I left the yard to pursue a spot that's been on my list for almost a year I heard that the three units I just saw race west without their train to "help" a train that wasn't moving. I'm not sure exactly what happened but the train they went to go push was apparently stalled somewhere around Mississippi as the helper units were connected practically under the Kellogg overpass. It wasn't long and this train was moving and out of sight. The helpers would later come back to pick up there stacks and head west with them from Pig's Eye.
As luck would have it I couldn't catch but one westbound during my time up on the Kellogg overpass but I did catch a series of eastbound trains for some going away shots.
First one a couple NS units sandwich in a former Conrail unit.

Nicholas Benson and
Robert Ball for inspiring me to check out this spot sooner than later! Shortly after that CP light power shot was taken I would then go back to Pig's Eye yard until dark to see several train roar past me. Another great night railfanning in Saint Paul.
Thanks for reading/looking.
