Well I was fortunate enough to spend most of the day Saturday trackside. I started out at Pigseye and caught this CP stack train passing the end of a NS stacker. There was the usual assortment of engines around the fueling tower and diesel house

I then moved up to the 7th street bridge and just missed the engine on this train. That was the only east bound that came through while I was there. The rest were all West bound going away from me.

and finally this odd combination. Two UP engines with three CNs.
This had come across then Robert St bridge which was why it was in the "wrong" main. It was slowing down so I quickly moved up to the Phalen Blvd bridge and caught him holding at the red lights. The reason he was holding quickly became apparent. There is a double cross over just north of these lights and I suspect the Warbonett was coming down the same main as the UP and crossed over just before this meet. The UP then took the other crossover to get in the "correct" main.
I shot this next photo just for the Brahamfirmen, It's a blurry shot but a unique look at a Warbonett.
On a side note.........If you haven't been up on the Phalen bridge over Westminister I would highley recommend it. Good views of both the BNSF St. Paul and Midway subs and also the Altoona sub connection. Theres also a bunch of plagues up there with neat Railroad information. Here is one PIC I took. One other note..........If you like Italian, you'll find Yaruso Brothers Italian Restaurant just a few blocks from here, best I've ever had. Sorry for the off rail comment.
After the Phalen PICS I went home and picked up my son and we headed to Univeristy where we caught these two, one of them a leading Swoosh.

Then up to Interstate wher we caught our 2nd swoosh pulling the BNSF taconite train
I shot this next one to show the Swoosh on a grain car, my first
We then headed back to Pigseye with a stop in New brighton at CN/WC, but nothing moving there. Caught a crew change on this unit.
I'm wondering if anybody knows what the symbol on the CP is? I looked through quite a few of my photo's and could not find it on any I have.

Well that was it for the day. There are more PICS on my webshots site under the "Latest Photo's Album"

sounds like a fun day, I wish the cities weren't so far away......Nice shot of the warbonnet.

I dont know what that symbol on the CP train is, but I know it is some canadian thing, I saw a fair amount of them when I worked there, someone said it is on all the canandian units, but not the american ones :? I dont know the truth behind it though.

That would be one of the RCMP Musical Ride promotional locomotives. There are 15 or so locomotives with this logo. I know that SD90/43MAC 9102 and AC4400CW 9531 have it. I also saw a GP9u like this up in Moose Jaw, SK.

Awesome day. From one end to the other.

Just to note: the swoosh hopper is a cement/plastic/pellet car. Compare the length to the brown grain hopper in front of it. Not sure why they are different shorter.

Good catch Aaron, I really didn't notice the difference until you pointed it out. OK So I have a pelletcar, a box car and a stacker car with the swoosh but I'm still lookin for that grain car.

Thanks for the Info on that logo Fredrick, I really had no idea.

There was a grain car with a tiny swoosh in the Northtown yard yesterday, along with a tank car with a bigger swoosh.

busyemt, and all

The difference in length and cubic capacity is due to the density of commodity shipped in the car. The short CH are for minerals, cement
and other dense commodities. grain and grain products are far leass dense. For the HO modelers, Athearn is doing the exact paint scheme on the car in the pic for release sometime this spring
