Another sunny day brought with it another day of railfanning. It started with me trying to catch the Empire Builder at St. Anthony, but I was a little too late in getting there. However, it proved to be worthwhile nonetheless, as I caught three separate MNNR trains, including the New Brighton job
After that I went to the Wabasha Bridge to get the Empire Builder:
Then a quick trip to the Laffayette bridge to see if anything had been waiting for Amtrak to pass. I was in luck and caught a UP coming off the Altoona Sub with a nice C40-8 leading:
A stop at Newport is always a good bet, so that's where I went next. Two Eastbounds and two Westbounds as well as the CP scrap job went by while I was there:
Then on to South Saint Paul, just in case there was a heritage unit there
, but no luck, although I did get a pair of C41-8s pulling a short cut of cars into the yard
and horrible lighting aside, it's still a nice find these days.
Then with the sun getting high, and the temp rising I thought it best to go back and enjoy some AC and monitor the ATCS (thanks for telling me about it John!) just see what was going on. I could tell there were at least four Westbounds lined up for the St. Paul sub, so off to Talmadge Ave I went:
And there was something in the third trains consist that surprised me:
Anybody know where that one is going?
And with that another great day of railfanning this wonderful area came to an end for me.
