This afternoon we had a pair of westbound TCW trains roll thru the stadium site back to back right after the work window was released. What was really odd is where they seemed to be coming from - 4300 was leading a grain train that had been sitting on the west leg of the wye [not the east leg as it usually runs] for a big chunk of the work window and 4301 was leading a pair of hoppers. I'm just curious on what was going on today and why 4300 was coming from Northtown [or at least from that way...]

No, not to Northtown, but to Humboldt. The RNC is forcing the Merriam Park to close so CP interchange is done at Humboldt. I was chasing them around this morning and yesterday.

also of note the TCW was sitting at Shoreham with the RRVW 404 on point of an Intermodal train, only 10 loaded cars, and 1800 feet. I REALLY wanted a pic but had to leave before CP 290 cleared for the TCW move.

I should also mention that their on-duty time is now changing almost every day. The crew goes on duty any time between 0700 and 1200, depending on work windows and when Humboldt wants the train.

So I'm guessing the 4301 with the pair of cars was what was left of the St Paul turn just running as far at the Commercial?

So is the tracks between Division St. and Merrium Park, closed? Where do UP trains go to head Southwest towards Valley Park and Omaha on the old Omaha?

I was wondering if anyone else was shooting the TCW today. I got off of work at lunch ( ) and chased the TCW and a Southern Belle during the afternoon.

Here are a couple photos I've gotten of the TCW going to Humboldt.



The 4301 was only added on Thursday, every other day it's been the 2053 and 4300.

It looks like you got the colors right on the shot at CP University, but it looks underexposed. Have you tried just upping the exposure?
